This year, I'm not setting goals.
I'm setting a mission: Communication.
Not just in words but in actions, decisions, boundaries, & what I choose to build.
Annual goals often ignore the season you're in.
And when you chase outcomes that don't match your current capacity, the result isn't growth, it's disappointment.
I've lived that loop long enough.
So instead of optimizing for outcomes, I'm optimizing for embodiment.
A mission isn't something you check off.
It's something you live through your choices.
It's a focus on the signal, not the scoreboard.
Most broken relationships didn't fail because of intent. They failed due to poor communication at the origin, which was often mixed with emotion, timing, and unprocessed history.
Once that cocktail hits, things escalate fast & by the time clarity arrives, it's often too late.
Being able to communicate where you are - clearly, honestly, and in a way that can actually be received, I've realized, is a skill.
Especially with people you love. Especially with people you choose to keep.
Communication isn't just saying what's on your mind. That's the lazy version.
Real communication has delivery, direction, and discernment.
It's a directive, not a release valve.
I used to believe honesty alone was enough. It isn't.
What's painful is that we usually understand the importance of communication only after it's been mishandled; after the relationship ends, after the body breaks down, after we realize we never truly communicated care to ourselves.
Communication is costly. And it's freeing.
This year, I'm choosing the cost upfront.
🥂 to the year of Communication.
Not as a goal, but as a mission.
Check back in next year.
